Aerodynamics
One of the bigger differences between a road bike and a triathlon bike is related to aerodynamics.
The most obvious difference is related to body position of the riders. When we view the diagram below we can see quite clearly that the Triathlon rider is in the most aerodynamic position. The Road Racer is in the next most aerodynamic body position. If you want to be a competitive triathlete getting into the most aerodynamic position possible is a huge advantage.

Triathlon bikes are expensive.
It is a fact, triathlon bikes are, generally expensive. A top of the line bike can cost over $16,000. As an age group athlete do we really need to spend a lot of money to get a top performing bike?
